Lessons Policies
Registration - Our “studio year” is from September 1st through August 31st. You may register & begin lessons at any time, but you are registering for the remainder of the “studio year”. There will be a yearly registration fee of $30 to help maintain operating expenses.
Holiday Schedule - We do not give lessons during July 4th, Thanksgiving Day Weekend, and Dec. 24th through Jan 1st. These days will be factored into your lesson fees. All other holidays’ lessons will proceed as usual. These times can change at any time, please speak with your instructor for verification.
Group Lessons - Guidelines state there are no refunds or make up lessons allowed for missing group lessons, camps, or Battle of FS Bands. The teacher must be paid the same amount, whether 3 students or 10 students show up for the lesson. There are no exceptions to this policy. The cost of a group lesson is reduced to make up for this inconvenience.
Late Arrival - Students arriving late will not have their lesson time extended. This backs up the entire schedule & presents scheduling problems for everyone concerned. If a student is more than 15 minutes late the teacher will be dismissed & the lesson considered a 'No Show'.
No Shows - Any cancellation or missed lesson without 24 hours notice is considered a 'No Show'. Failure to show up for lessons creates a loss of income for the teacher who has set aside time for the student in good faith. This means that if you do not show up for a lesson, for any reason, there are no refunds, make up lessons, or credits. If the instructor fails to show up for a lesson for any reason, or inclement weather demands that lessons be canceled, a make up lesson will be scheduled during the same calendar month. This is here to help keep procedures running smoothly.
Make Up Lessons - Make up lessons may be given as 1hr group lessons on Saturday mornings, once per month. We have the right to do this in place of private make up lessons due to lack of space on the teachers schedules. Please note that calling the day of your lesson to cancel does not qualify for a make up lesson. There will be no credits towards the following months lessons allowed. You must schedule a make up lesson within two weeks.
Books, Tuners, Metronomes, & Instruments - Students are required to bring the items the teachers requests to the lesson. If the student fails to bring the required items he/she may receive a theory lesson during the regular lesson slot.
Care of Students - The studio is not responsible for providing before or after care for students. Parents with students under the age of 5 are asked to remain in the studio during the classes. Students are not to be left at the studio for excessive time (more than 15 min.) before or after lessons unless waiting on a family member to finish a lesson.
Parent’s Responsibility to be Aware of Dates and Events - It is the responsibility of the parent or adult student to be aware of studio activities such as recitals and dates the studio is open and closed. We will make every effort to inform all students of activities by posting them within the studio, on the studios website, and by blanket emails. It is the parents responsibility to provide the studio with a valid email address. It is also the responsibility of the parent or adult student to inform the studio of any address or telephone number change.
Withdrawals - Regulation states registration is for the entire "studio year". If a student withdraws before the end of August, a 30-day written notice (withdrawal form) is required. If 30 days notice is not given a $50 withdrawal fee will be assessed. The withdrawal fee will not be charged unless the student fails to give the 30 day written notice. Written notice is given by filling out a withdrawal form and submitting to the front desk.
Lesson Materials - Each instructor uses his/her own curriculum, and equipment. This may include books, flash cards, binders, handouts, CD's, practice pad/drum sticks, etc. There is usually an additional charge for these materials. Any questions about pricing and where to order from can be answered by your instructor.
